Baile is a fantasy continent that sits right smack dab in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Ironically enough, no human or animal in the outside world knows of its existence despite the fact that its around the same size as Austria.
The first humans and animals stumbled upon this place 100 years ago in the year 2016 by sheer luck after having been shipwrecked or having the plane that they were on crash into the sea. The humans who had found it decided to keep it a secret from the rest of the world and basically, they ended up creating a "mini world" on that island and called it Baile. The only way that humans and animals found the place was by being lost at sea. Over the years, as the human population increased, they began to build a large "mega city" in the northern part of the continent.
Further exploration and research done by the resident people indicated a large desert sat right at the continent's heart. The desert morphed into grassland the further north they traveled before it eventually gave way to the city. The grassland transitioned into a dense, lush forest; similar to the forests of North America as they moved East. South of the Forest was a vast mountain range with a vast network of caves hidden within them, which contained an alter strangely enough that depicted strange canid-like figures of what the explorers thought to be deities of some form. The mountain range and its caves soon gave way to a rain forest to the west that made the Amazon Rain Forest look like a meager patch of no more than five trees. The rain forest then transitioned into numerous beaches and islands. The city of Cathrach (as they later named it) sat just to the east of the beaches.
What they failed to notice when they visited each of the continent's regions however, was that the water in each of those places had a unique combination of unknown minerals that were specific to that location. The minerals had no effect on humans or other animals, but it did affect the canines that chose to stop for a drink. If the canine remained in that area for long enough, their bodies would start to develop physical traits to make living there for the canine easier. However, once that canine left that area, they no longer had access to that specific mineral. As a result, they would lose their outlandish traits in a painful process and they would never be able to take on any other qualities from the other regions again in their lifetime. They would have to be "normal", "bland", and "ordinary".
For now, the "gifted" canines are still unknown to the humans, but sightings of foxes soaring over the mountains on feathered wings, wolves that looked more like fish swimming in the ocean with coils of electricity of different colors coiling around their bodies and in their mouths, or of antlered dogs climbing trees have come up on occasion. But they were dismissed as hallucinations and the ones who reported the sightings were dismissed as insane and no one believed them. Oddly enough, the reporters would disappear soon after they reported their findings. Perhaps the mythical-looking canines had tracked them down and "disposed of them" quietly.
Packs soon formed in four of these regions; with each "normal" canine who joined starting to take on the traits of the pack after drinking the local water for half a year and not being fully "changed" until another half year passed.
Recently, a fifth pack has formed. This time, in the heart of the mega city. These, unlike their "outland" counterparts, looked more like walking weapons. These were dogs only; those born on the streets and former house pets who had drank the water, took on the traits, and formed a pack for survival.
There is peace among the five packs now, but tensions between them are slowly rising. A war is on the horizon. Who will you choose to fight alongside?
