The continent of Baile was formed by an underwater volcano spewing out lava over millions of years and was shaped by tectonic plates, wind erosion, and water erosion. Before the five present packs were formed and even before humans and their dogs ever set foot on the continent, there were canines here.
Primal Wolves, Jackals, Coyotes, Dingos/Dholes, and Foxes called this unique landmass home. But, these canines were far bigger than even the biggest canine of each of those species are today. Dingos/Dholes have since become extinct within the continent due to reasons that are still currently unknown (but inter-species breeding is the most likely scenario between the Canine Historians of Baile).
In each of the lands of the present-day packs, a tribe once thrived before they were mysteriously wiped out by what some say was a deadly pandemic while others say it was some sort of devastating natural disaster; but the theory of a massive Civil War between the tribes has also been thrown around by Baile's Cainine Historians.
So, there were four tribes living on primitive Baile: In the mountains, there was The Beag. In the desert, it was The Caith. The ocean was the domain of The Tonn. While The Géag laid claim to the forest. Oddly enough, the canines living in today's packs (with the exception of Madrai) were not the first to have their unique traits. The canines of these early packs had them as well; as they drank the same water that the canines in today's packs are drinking to obtain their mutations.
The first humans and dogs made landfall on Baile five centuries after the last tribe member died. But, there are rumors that this last tribal canine (a wolf named Iar who was part of The Tonn) is still alive and lives in the darkness and cold depths of Trinse Trench.
